When does a paralegal handle a file rather than a lawyer?

What does a notary public actually attest to?
That the person named signed the document in front of the notary, having produced identification, and that any oath or affirmation was properly administered. A notary is not certifying that the contents are true, which is a distinction that matters when a document is later challenged.
For a certified true copy the notary compares the copy against the original and certifies that they match, which is why the original has to be produced at the appointment.
