What these terms of use apply to
These terms of use apply to this website and everything published on it. They do not replace the retainer agreement that governs a matter once the firm is acting.
Does reading this site make you a client?
No. Sending the enquiry form does not make you a client either, and neither does a first telephone call. A solicitor-client relationship begins when the firm and you agree in writing that the firm is acting, and not before.
Until then, do not send anything you would not want read by somebody who is not yet your lawyer. If a limitation period or a filing deadline is close, telephone rather than write. An email nobody has opened yet is not notice to anybody.
The pages here are general information
Each page describes how a rule generally works in Ontario, or in Canadian immigration law, at the time it was written. None of it is advice on your matter, because advice needs the file. The same rule change lands differently on an application already filed, one about to be filed, and one still being assembled.
Dated notes are not kept current
The notes under Updates each record one rule change and the date it took effect, and they stay as written. They are deliberately not revised afterwards. The service page linked at the foot of a note carries the position now; the note carries what changed and when.
Links to other sites
Some pages link to decisions of the Federal Court and to government pages so you can read the source rather than take a summary on trust. Those sites are not run by this firm, and what they publish is not the firm's responsibility.
Who regulates this firm?
Rathod Law Professional Corporation is a law practice in Ontario. Its lawyer is licensed by the Law Society of Ontario, as are the licensed paralegals on staff. Complaints about the conduct of a licensee go to the Law Society, which is independent of the firm.
