What the caseworkers do
Niti Shah, Ramandeep Kaur and Himanshu Prajapati are caseworkers, each with more than five years on Canadian immigration files. Between them they have assembled applications across most of the categories IRCC operates: study permits, visitor visas, work permits with and without a labour market assessment, open work permits, Express Entry and the other permanent residence pathways, and spousal sponsorship.
The breadth is the point. Proof of funds, relationship evidence and employment history are asked for across several programmes and measured against a different standard in each, so somebody who has prepared files in all of them recognises when a document that satisfied one will not satisfy another. None of them gives legal advice: whether a matter is arguable is assessed by the lawyer or an RCIC at a consultation, and the assembly work follows that.

Who is licensed, and by whom?
Kapil Rathod is a Barrister and Solicitor licensed by the Law Society of Ontario, called to the Bar in Canada in 2019, and a Notary Public. Saleema Panjwani is a Licensed Paralegal, regulated by the Law Society of Ontario and a Notary Public. The remaining members of the team work in case management, client coordination and administration, and do not provide legal advice.
Who should you ask for?
For an immigration refusal or a Federal Court question, ask for Kapil. For a traffic charge or a Small Claims matter, ask for one of the paralegals. If you are not sure, the intake question at the front desk sorts it in a minute.
What is the firm's background?
Kapil Rathod began in immigration work in 2011 as a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant and was called to the Bar in Canada in 2019. Since then the firm has filed appeals and mandamus applications at the Federal Court of Canada and appeared before the Immigration and Refugee Board. Alongside that, Licensed Paralegals act on Small Claims Court matters, Highway Traffic Act charges and tribunal hearings.
Why does the firm work in Hindi, Gujarati, Punjabi and Urdu?
Because a large share of our clients explain a situation more precisely in the language they think in, and precision is the whole point of a first meeting. A misunderstood date or an approximate account of a relationship is exactly the sort of thing that turns into a refusal months later.
How does the firm decide who runs a file?
By what the matter requires rather than by what bills more. Where Ontario permits a Licensed Paralegal to act, a Licensed Paralegal runs it. Where the matter needs a lawyer, it goes to one. You are told which at the first conversation, before any retainer.
What can you expect on timing?
Honest answers about waits we do not control. Immigration files sit with IRCC for long stretches, and saying so is more useful than inventing a date. Where a file has genuinely stalled beyond published processing times there is a Federal Court remedy, and we will tell you when you have reached that point.
What does the firm not do?
Corporate transactions, wills and estates, personal injury litigation and real estate closings are not part of the practice. Where somebody arrives with one of those, we say so and point them elsewhere rather than learn on their file. A referral costs us a matter and saves the client a year.
Do you have to live in Brampton to instruct the firm?
No. The office is in Brampton, but immigration work is filed with IRCC and the Federal Court rather than locally, so where you live changes nothing about it. Traffic and Small Claims matters are heard where the charge was laid or the claim issued. First meetings are often held by telephone.
What should you expect on cost?
A number before you commit. Most application work is quoted per matter rather than by the hour, so the figure is known in advance, and government filing fees are separate and paid directly to the authority concerned. Where a matter has to be hourly, you are told that and told why.
