What changed
- Saskatchewan permanently closed all Entrepreneur and Farm immigration pathways on 27 March 2025.
- No new applications, no new expressions of interest, and no further invitations to apply.
- Applications filed before that date continue to be processed to completion.
What the province said
It closed the door and said so plainly. The programme's own page states that effective 27 March 2025 the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program has permanently closed all Entrepreneur and Farm immigration pathways.
No new applications are accepted, no new expressions of interest are considered, and no further invitations to apply are issued. The word the province used is permanently, not temporarily.
Programmes usually close with softer language than that. Suspended, paused and under review all leave a door open. This one did not.
Why does the requirements list still appear?
Because the closure notice sits above content that was never removed. Scroll past it and the net worth figures, the investment thresholds and the business establishment plan are all still there, reading exactly as they did when the stream was open.
That is a trap for anyone researching by search engine, and it is worth naming: a page can carry current requirements for a programme that no longer accepts anybody. Read the top of the page before the middle of it.
If an application is already in
Existing applications continue to be processed to completion. A file submitted before the closing date is not cancelled by it.
What has gone is the option of joining the queue. Anyone still assembling a Saskatchewan entrepreneur application is building it for pathways that will not receive it.
Where an entrepreneur stream still runs
Saskatchewan closing does not tell you much on its own. The useful question is which provinces were still accepting entrepreneur candidates when we last checked each province's own website, on 8 September 2026.
British Columbia runs a Base stream and a Regional stream. Alberta runs four, covering rural, graduate and foreign graduate entrepreneurs and a separate Farm Stream. Manitoba runs an Entrepreneur Pathway and a Farm Investor Pathway. Nova Scotia runs one by invitation only. New Brunswick runs a Business Immigration stream that replaced its earlier Entrepreneurial Stream, and Newfoundland and Labrador runs an International Entrepreneur stream. The Atlantic three ask lower net worth and investment figures than the two western provinces.
Ontario is closed as well, its streams replaced by Ontario Workforce Priority. Prince Edward Island is the one to read carefully: its Work Permit Stream page carries no closure notice, and its own draw record shows 0 business invitations across all eight draws from January to August 2026. Open and inviting nobody are different things.

How to read any closure notice
Check the top of the programme page before the middle of it, and check the date beside the notice rather than the date on the requirements. A page can carry both at once, and the requirements are usually the part that ranks in a search result.
Then check whether the closure covers intake, processing, or both. A pause on intake leaves existing files moving. A closure of the pathways, as here, ends the option of joining at all. The two read similarly in a headline and mean very different things to somebody holding a half-built application. The Saskatchewan entrepreneur pathways are shut on both counts, which is why the note above says permanently.
